Hi, I'm Kavita. |
Looking for a therapist is a really personal thing. I understand the ambivalence you may feel in deciding to seek help and from whom you seek help. So before you reach out, I want to give you a sense of me and my take on therapy.
Therapy is a relationship. Before you can share your 'truths'; truths you may not have even spoken to yourself, it's important to feel trust. Trust is something you feel when you are in a safe and secure relationship. I provide a non-judgemental and nurturing space for you to experience new ways of relating without distractions or taking care of the other person in the room. Within the context of a compassionate, kind, and authentic relationship with me (a trained psychotherapist) you are free you to explore your thoughts and feelings and to engage your natural curiosity to challenge assumptions and try-on new perspectives. |
Therapy is a path. We won’t know where it leads or how long it is until we’re on it. I'll stay by your side and help steer you towards your deepest 'truths'. Along the way, I'll help you discover how other people's truths are pretending to be yours, and I'll help you see how you defend against monsters that aren’t there (but you likely met on previous paths).
Therapy is an investment. In order to have the life and relationships you wish for and barely allow yourself to imagine, you will be spending time, energy, and money. Beyond that, genuine transformation takes courage, humility, and patience. (If it was fast or easy, you'd have done it already, right?)
As a woman of color and an immigrant, I hold a social justice perspective and sensibility. When you come to me for help, I will work sensitively and respectfully within the framework of your unique cultural context, life experiences, and identities.

What's next?
It's natural to wonder if therapy can help you. You may feel anxious about sharing private and personal things with someone you don't know. You may feel concerned about what others may think.
Begin with a phone call. Fill out the form and I'll call you to schedule a free confidential phone consultation. We'll talk about how I can help you. We'll find out if we are a good fit. |
